Rossana Gutiérrez was born in Mexico City and educated at the Universidad La Salle where she earned her Architecture Degree at the Escuela Mexicana de Arquitectura in 1981. From 1979-1984 she practiced architecture in the firm of Augusto H. Alvarez y Asociados in Mexico City. In 1984 she moved to New York City to pursue her professional career at the firm of I.M. Pei & Partners (since renamed Pei Cobb Freed & Partners) where she remained until 1999. From 1999-2003 she collaborated with W. Stephen Wood Architects before leaving to work at Pei Partnership Architects.

In the course of over 32 years in New York, Ms. Gutiérrez has been involved in numerous projects around the world including the Creative Artists Agency Headquarters in Beverly Hills, CA (1989), The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C. (1993), the World Trade Center in Barcelona (1999), the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington D.C. (1998), the Richard J. Daronco Westchester County Courthouse in Westchester, N.Y. (2005), La Caixa Headquarters in Barcelona Spain (1998), and the Bilbao Emblematic Building in Bilbao, Spain (1992).

As Project Director at Pei Partnership Architects, Ms. Gutiérrez has been responsible for many projects including the award winning Guanajuato State Library in León, Guanajuato, Mexico built in 2006, the Alturki Plaza Complex in Dharan, Saudi Arabia built in 2012 and the Museum of Islamic Art Park completed and opened in 2012. The large sculpture park with related buildings for public use is located on the grounds of the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar designed by I.M. Pei.

Other notable projects designed by Ms. Gutierrez include the Queretaro Apartment Towers and Hotel Complex in Querétaro, Mexico (2004) and the Alfonso Reyes Residential Tower in Mexico City, Mexico (2014). She also provided planning design for The Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A. (2008).

Most recently, her projects have included The Six Dynasties Museum which opened in the summer of 2014 and The Grand Mansion Hotel which opened in the summer of 2015. Both of these projects make up The Nanjing Hanfujie Plaza Complex in Nanjing, China. Another project in China for which she provided design is the Golden Beach Mixed-Use Complex in Qingdao, China. Ms. Gutiérrez is presently the Project Director of the Château Lynch-Bages Winery in Pauillac, France, a complete new facility planned for 2019.
